Knights of Columbus

Council 11296

History

On February 2, 1882, while an assistant pastor at Saint Mary's Church in New Haven, Connecticut, Father McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus with a small group of parishioners. Father McGivney died from pneumonia on the eve of the Assumption in 1890, when he was only thirty-eight years old. The order now has over 1.7 million member families and thirteen thousand councils.

Purpose

The purpose of the KC's is to provide spiritual growth for its members, and opportunities for service to the parish and to the larger community. The Knights are very active with pancake breakfasts, various dinners, Pro-Life activities, the sale of Tootsie Rolls for the mentally handicapped and the Special Olympics, as wells as maintenance around the church and grounds.

Meeting Times

The Knights of Columbus meet on the 1st Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Church Hall.
